Nextnine today announced that the company has won the gold medal award for the Best IT Solution for Critical Infrastructure of the recent IT World Awards.
Nextnine provides operational technology (OT) security management solutions for industrial control system (ICS) environments. Nextnine helps its industrial enterprise customers benefit from connected industrial operations, while minimizing the cybersecurity risks associated with IoT technologies.
Nextnine was recognized with this award for its ICS Shield solution. The company describes ICS Shield as a cybersecurity management platform that protects operational technology from a single security and operations center. According to Nextnine, the solution automates the deployment and enforcement of operational-wide security policies and focuses on discovering a complete inventory of all operational assets and detecting anomalies and inefficiencies. The system further creates a unified framework for secure remote access. ICS Shield also facilitates the cyber-hardening of the industrial network with security essentials, such as patching, antivirus protection, log collection and compliance reporting.
“We are pleased to receive this award recognition for the clear value that ICS Shield is delivering to providers of critical infrastructure and other industrial enterprises,” stated Shmulik Aran, CEO of Nextnine.
The IT World Awards is an annual achievements and recognition program now in its 12th year. Each year, this award program highlights the best products, services and technologies in all sectors of information technology.
Nextnine boasts that ICS Shield is being used globally in over 6000 industrial plants and 1000 manufacturing facilities in the oil & gas, mining, pharmaceutical, utility, chemicals, food and other sectors. The company also has global partnerships with leading industrial automation vendors, system integrators and managed security service providers.
Aran further commented that “we are very proud of the fact that ICS Shield is one of the most widely deployed solutions for securing connected industrial operations, which was one of the main drivers behind Honeywell’s recent announcement of the definitive agreement to acquire Nextnine.”
Honeywell is a Fortune 100 industrial software company with among the largest industrial cybersecurity research capabilities. Earlier this month, Honeywell announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Nextnine. Honeywell described in a statement that ICS Shield will enhance company’s existing range of innovative cybersecurity technologies and significantly increase its cybersecurity customer base.
Last year, the analyst firm Gartner praised Nextnine’s approach to operational technology security in an analyst report titled on Market Guide for Operational Technology Security.
